Last night, MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann took on the outrageous remarks of Donald Rumsfeld on those who dare question the administration. Take a listen … it’s worth the few minutes.
What part of “We are directed by Allah to kill all Infidels” don’t you understand? How about “The difference between Islamists and Americans is that they love life and we love death.” (Usama bin Laden) What do you hate so much about your country and yourself that you would suggest that “negotiation” with those who would behead you with a knife on camera if they had the chance, would make ANY difference in their attitudes toward you or the U.S.? In addition, why are we so loathe to criminally profile those who have been the ones to attack us…Men age 18-45 of middle eastern descent? Why are we wasting time searching baby strollers and grandma when we should be giving closer examination to the obvious people? Granted, our enemies are clever enough to start planting bombs on those who would not be as likely to be searched, but why not try? What if we just stopped enforcing immigration laws and illegal border crossings? We would have an invasion the likes of which we have never seen! (Oh, wait…that’s already happened.) We have to make it harder and harder for terrorists to succeed by staying a step ahead of those who would murder us. It is just another example of political-correctness gone awry, and we are going to pay the price sooner or later. The terrorists are laughing at us.
Get real. Where is your instinct for self-preservation? It’s people like you who will take down this country all for your self-hating vision of world politics. In some ways, YOUR ilk are the “extremist, suicide bombers” of America. You will stop at nothing to demonstrate your skewed, fundamentalist idea of what the Constitution was intended to do. The key difference is that you don’t have the guts to blow yourself up in a cafe or mall. However, you are more dangerous than a suicide bomber because your subversive undermining of our country’s objective to SURVIVE will simply take down many more Americans than a relatively small bomb strapped around your waist. Sometimes, it is actually true that things are as simple as they seem. Kill or be killed. End of story. Unless we all realize this, this country won’t live another day to debate all of the typical, otherwise inconsequential issues that I wish we could get back to; “piddly” issues between our democratic political parties that mean life is good again.
“You will stop at nothing to demonstrate your skewed, fundamentalist idea of what the Constitution was intended to do.”
Michelle – Hmmmm. Think about that quote. From the “ideas” you have, it sounds like that quote applies to you a hell of a lot more than PunditMom.
PM – Found your blog from a post on the On Balance blog on the Washington Post & have really enjoyed it. Thanks!
Lawyer Mama, Glad you enjoyed. I am a lawyer too, tho’ I don’t practice anymore!
