… and doggone-it, I am hoping people will like him!
Yup! Al Franken (aka Stuart Smalley) has officially thrown his hat in the ring as a Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate seat in Minnesota now held by Republican Norm Coleman.
Sure, other Democrats are bound to toss their hats in the ring to try to ride the current Democratic wave to D.C., but wouldn’t Franken be a real breath of fresh air? Not a traditional politician but a person passionate about issues and politics. And that’s — OK!
We’ve had an actor in the White House and one in the governor’s office of California. Why not a guy with a wicked sense of humor in the Senate?
I bet Trent Lott and his pals would really watch what they say in front of “Senator Franken” — after all, who knows what ties he still has to Saturday Night Live?

Could he really be any worse than Minnesota’s past Governor? The wrestler? I’d love to say that I voted for Al Franken! I don’t suppose I could lure him to Massachusetts.

Yes, he is no Jesse Ventura, but I think he’ll do just fine.

Excellent! Wonder if his involvement in Air America will be a pro or a con.

Ack, I posted my address by mistake.
So I was saying… excellent! Wonder if his involvement in Air American will be a pro or a con.

I’m smart enough, I’m good enough, and darn it, people LIKE me!!
Wouldn’t a sense of humor be a BLESSED change?
Oh – and a brain. That would be fun too.

A sense of humor and passion for the issues would be great!

Got to be better than Governor Jessie Ventura, right? Hell, I might even watch C-Span if I could watch Franken on the floor!

Go Al!

I’d vote for him… but since I am in Virginia, the least I could do would be to donate to his campaign.

Oh, can you imagine the campaign speeches? Fun!
