In honor of Toddler Planet, I am happy to cross post this from her blog.

Moms. We love our kids.

We drive ourselves nuts taking care of them and helping them learn and grow. We would do anything for them. Right?

Of course. So do them a favor and take care of yourself.

Do your monthly breast self-exam and report any changes to your OB/GYN. ANY changes.

Even something that seems minor, like redness, soreness, thickening, itchiness, texture changes, dimpling, or a bug bite that just won’t heal. These seemingly minor symptoms are also signs of the baddest breast cancer out there – inflammatory breast cancer – and need to be checked out right away.

So do it for yourself or do it for your kids. But please, do your breast self-exam this month. Even if you’re pregnant. Even if you’re breastfeeding. Even if you think you’re “too young for breast cancer.” It could save your life.

We’re with you Toddler Planet mom.

Thanks PunditMom for calling this to the attention of your readers. Every year 200,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer. Luckily, 95% can be helped with early detection. To aid in PunditMom’s suggestions, I would also like to point out two more free resources, an online breast cancer video called Beyond the Shock, and this free breast cancer forum for survivors, those recently diagnosed, and supporting friends and family.

ok, so I’ve got a spot that is like a bug bite that itches all.the.time. Now i’m worried. Time to call the OB!

Thanks for posting this. I stole it from you. ;)

P.S. Is your “Pumpkinhead” a redhead, too? I call him that because he has red (orange) hair and (Bad Mommy!) because at birth he had kind of a large pumpkin-shaped head. ;)
