Wearing Your Politics on Your Sleeve

Or, perhaps more appropriately, your chest!

It’s no secret that I tend wear my Democratic politics on my sleeve. But with emotions running high for both the Dems and the GOP in this year’s political campaign, it’s not difficult to find those hawking election memorabilia both for and against all the candidates.

But how to choose something that will best represent our feelings and still be relevant after the election? You know how hard it is to get those bumper stickers off the car!

One of my personal favorites is the Hillary Clinton ice scraper. While practical for those of us who don’t live in the South, whoever came up with this idea just was NOT thinking about how many zingers the GOP and the late night comedians could come up with — icy, slippery, frigid — you get my drift.

On the fence or unhappy with the choices? You haven’t been left out — a special McCain/Clinton cheek-to-cheek bumper stick is made for you, and could have political or comic life left in it after the November election.

Mitt Romney has a little something special for his women supporters, and I do mean little. Nothing says ‘I support my candidate’ more than a 100% cotton thong with an image of a very happy Mitt emblazoned on it (made in the U.S.A., of course!).

And I’m sure that Barack Obama is totally behind the Dogs for Obama movement!

Trust me — I haven’t even begun to stock up on 2008 Presidential memorabilia that I’m sure will be e-Bay worthy in a few months. A Dennis Kucinich bandana or Ron Paul’s tribute to the summer of love?

Of course, there’s always the “I’ll abstain” option!

And I want to give a BIG THANK YOU to all my guest posters who filled in for me over the last six days while I was away with my family. They’ve inspired me to introduce a new PunditMom project shortly — stay tuned!

Wow. I am becoming WAY too into politics. But in the end, I think that all the memorabelia is NOT for me. I am all about car magnets and yard signs. It helps the campaign and comes off when the elections over. After this election’s over, I plan on spending some quality time huddled over the toilet since all the halfway decent ones have pulled out of the race. Just out of curiousity, what does this have to do with what’s fair game on the blog? I think I missed that part.

      This was highly entertaining. Highly.

And to think, they can’t even pass out “I voted” stickers at the polls here in Chicago.

My favorite was the campaign sign maker on the Bush/Cheney website during the last election. You could make your own and print it out. It wouldn’t let you put in curse words, but I papered my office bulletin board with B/C signs saying things like, “Give Bush a Wedgie” and “The Emperor Has No Brains.”

Ooh, I’d be so excited if McCain had something like that!

      Ha!

We have a stash of Kucinich swag from the most recent and previous campaigns. Never thought of the eBay value when I fill my travel mug. ;)
