When a fellow MOMocrat calls and says, “Would you like to meet Katie Couric?” you go!
A no-brainer, especially for someone like me who spent years in the broadcast news business. No, I never made it to Katie’s level, but it is still in my blood. So getting a chance to meet with her and pick her brain about her views was like offering PunditGirl a sleepover on a school night — a gift so unexpected that you would never even entertain the thought!
I didn’t have a chance to get her views on the presidential campaign, but maybe next time I’m in town??
But I did get to add my two cents to the discussion, hoping to get across that plenty of us out here in the blogosphere are much more than “mommy bloggers.” Sure, lots of us happen to be moms, but we’ve got more to say and write about than what time the playdates are and whose birthday party is this weekend.
One small step for mommy bloggers, one giant leap for woman-kind!

Love it! You could be Katie’s “cover” as we say in the opera biz.
Her kitchen probably doesn’t look as gorgeous as yours.

What is so great about her? She reads the news. She looks cute. Big deal.
I heard her ask Susan Smith’s grieving husband right after Smith killed all their kids “Today would be Noah’s birthday. How are you dealing with that?” That was it for me. No more respect. If any human dares ask another human that kind of thing, I don’t want to hear one more word they say. THAT’s why I hate her.

First a new kitchen, then meeting Katie Couric? What more could a girl want?

I had the fabulous opportunity to not only meet Katie Couric for the first time (after having been a big fan of hers for years…), but meeting you for the first time after bonding in the blogoshpere. And I found out that you can also sing up a storm:-)
