As I count down the days to the Democratic National Convention, I have to wonder — is it worth it to spend thousands of my own money to be part of this event?

Did you know that Barack is going to give his acceptance speech on August 28? Did you know that’s the 40th anniversary of MLK’s “I Have A Dream” speech. So, if you are drawn to witnessing, I’d be all over.

Joanne as a veteran of MANY conventions, I can’t urge you enough to go. This may be the most historic in decades and to be part of this moment in history is beyond price. You know from your own history what the high is when you’re part of a moment that lasts forever. You can replace the money but an experience like this one comes around once in a lifetime. Which would you rather regret — losing the money or losing the memory? Not that I feel too strongly about this or anything.

I would say yes, except that I opted NOT to for $$ reasons. So, I guess it’s not worth it for me. It’s going to be insanely exciting though. I’ll envy you.

You would kick yourself if you missed out on this opportunity. Money doesn’t grow on trees but it can be earned. Opportunities rarely present themselves twice.

I can’t imagine having to shell that kind of $$ out. I am not sure I would or could in your position. So what a tough decision to make. But… Punditmom… you gotta go and represent all of us! We need you there!

Absolutely, you will regret it if you don’t make it to this historic event! Maybe you can cut down on costs and find a place to stay on craigslist (I found a place that was $70 a night!) or get a cheaper flight. The bottom line is you need to be there. It’s too exciting to pass up!
