Melody Barnes, Obama’s Director of Domestic Policy Council

Mon, November 24, 2008

Last week, I asked where the women were going to land in a Barack Obama administration.

Now we know a few, including the amazingly qualified Melody Barnes as his Director of the White House Domestic Policy Council, who is expected to work closely with Tom Daschle at the Department of Health and Human Services. Barnes has been with the Center for American Progress and has served as Chief Counsel to the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Her first political experience was selling cupcakes for George McGovern when she was eight-years-old!

I wish someone would have told me about the Presidential Classroom when I was a high school student. I would have been ALL over that! Think it’s too late?

Plus, Barnes apparently has been noted as a sharp dresser here in DC. I’m always glad to know that politics AND cute shoes (two of my personal passions) can mix on the big political stage!
