Moms & Politics

Well, it’s a new year and time to get back in the radio saddle! So PunditMom Radio at Blog Talk Radio is back tomorrow, Monday afternoon at 2 p.m. Eastern time to talk about political mothers.

Michelle Obama has consistently said that once Barack Obama is sworn in as President, she will consider herself to be the “Mom-in-Chief” and “First Mom.” But will this role from a woman with a double Ivy education re-ignite the Mommy Wars skirmishes?

Co-authors of the popular book Mommy Guilt, and writers of Parentopia blog, Devra Renner and Aviva Pflock will join me for a lively half-hour discussion of what the politics of the 2008 campaign have done for mommy guilt and what they are hoping an Obama administration will be able to do to enhance work/life balance discussions for all working parents.

Please come hang out with us on Monday at 2 p.m. Eastern with your phone calls or E-mail questions & comments in the Blog Talk Radio chat room! It will be a great way to kick off 2009 here at PunditMom!

I was on blog talk radio w/ Devra and Aviva and they literally changed my life and I’m not kidding.

It’s not as easy to walk away from a traditional job as it sounds. Even eighteen months after “retiring” from teaching to work on my writing and do the stay at home thing, I still find myself wishing I had a place to go (that isn’t in my house) to work.

First Lady though is a job, and it’s not like she will be juggling the same responsibility load as we mere mortals. She has the luxury of having her mom live with them and a fully staffed household.

I write but the house stills needs cleaning, meals need cooking, groceries need to be bought, kid and husband need my time and attention, etc. The First Lady is still living up the ladder from the majority of us.

It seemed like the half hour zoomed right by before we all knew it. We loved being on the show Joanne, thank you for inviting us.

And if you haven’t listened to Joanne’s radio show, you should. While we would never ever induce guilt related to parenting, we wouldn’t hesitate at all to guilt you into listening to Joanne’s show!
