Both my husband and I are self employed and work abroad (Mexico, to be exact.) We too pay for our own coverage and it is $$$. I would take the security of the public option in a heartbeat!

Between working abroad and self-employed I know that there is WAY too many loopholes and WAY too much fine print to be confident in the fact that we'd actually be covered if catastrophe were to strike. I just cover my eyes, mail the check, and hope for the best.

Health Care is a RIGHT, not an OPTION.

$1000 is a mortgage payment in some places.

As one of those people with a pre-existing condition, I'm lucky to have insurance through my husband's employer. However, that is no guarantee that they won't say "no" to me at some point in the future.
