When she says that when men are writing the stories, there are going to be more strippers, and fewer stories about "real" women, I bristled. Come on, I thought, strippers are real women too. Many of them are mothers, all of them are daughters, and few of them get respect from anyone in this world. Perhaps what Katherine meant is that the way they're depicted isn't "real", but what she said is just as easily interpreted in a way that marginalizes women who strip or "dance" for a living as somehow less than.
