Good choice at dodging the kitchen knives at Christmas beau. Maybe the Sanfords should have actually gone hiking...together...as a family.

Publishers believe women will relate because most of us can. If a woman didn't marry that substandard guy, she's dated him at least once over the course of her lifetime or, if she was lucky enough to avoid him, she knows a woman or two who wasn't.

We are a society that is stupendously awful at intimate relationships. In terms of politics I think we should be more surprised by the stellar marriages than those that make us cringe and/or gasp.

Sanford is no different than millions of other women who buy into the idea that things will get better or partners will change if they just work harder or sacrifice more. It's stupid, but it's what passes for romantic love in our culture.

The Sanfords have a truly bizarre relationship.

The governor's soulmate is Argentinian not Brazilian.

Enjoy the snow. We are.
