Thinking Bloggers Rock!

Thu, March 8, 2007

From the lows to the highs this week — I’m starting to feel like Kathy Griffin in cyberspace.

In a week where my head was spinning with questions, Gunfighter from The View From Here kindly bestowed on me the following gift:

Thinking Blogger Award

I know we’re all bloggers who think — we wouldn’t be out here writing and sharing our thoughts and views and lives if we weren’t. But it’s nice to know that there are people who enjoy reading what we write. No, it’s not a paying gig, but sometimes it’s not about the money — sometimes we just have to write as a way to get our thoughts out there in the world.

I started this blog as a way to deal with my passion for politics. I’d gotten a taste of some op-ed writing and LOVED it! Alas, after some editorial changes at the newspaper where I was getting my toes wet in that genre, that gig went by the wayside. Then, someone clued me into the amazing world of blogging.

I was skeptical at first, but it didn’t take long to make me a believer — not just in the great and inspiring writing I’ve come across, but also developing relationships and getting to know different people in this very curious type of community.

Thank you, Gunfighter, for bestowing upon me the Thinking Blogger Award. Since writing on our blogs is a somewhat solitary effort, it’s nice to know we’re connecting with others, at least in cyberspace!

As I stand here on the blogopshere podium accepting this award, I am now required to name five bloggers who make me think and present to them this award.

This is difficult, because there are so many blogs I follow, but after some consideration, I am awarding Thinking Bloggers to the following:

(This) Girl’s Gone Child
Brazen Careerist
Her Bad Mother
Lawyer Mama

While I have many other must-reads, these are the ones that are really inspiring me these days with their passionate views and writing on life, politics and parenthood.

Join me in a round of applause for these bloggers and check them out ASAP!

And, of course, applause for my blogosphere friend Gunfighter. Thank you so much for the wonderful award and for helping me see the ‘dad/guy’ perspective on many things (I know Mr. PunditMom would thank you, too)!

Oh, and here is the link to the lovely
badge to include on the awardees’ sites! And please link back to the original Thinking Bloggers post if you make any awards at your site!

Congratulations, PM! You totally deserve it. I can’t even begin to count the number of times I’ve brought up a topic from one of your blogs to my husband, co-workers, and friends. You always make me think. I, on the other hand, feel entirely unworthy. But thank you!

I could not agree more – with the choice of you and with your choices. Whoo!

Joanne. Congratulations. Nice award for you. Your mix of mom stuff and politics makes the blog stand out in my mind — I don’t read any others with that mix. Thanks for fun , thoughtful posts. I’m happy to see you recognized. And, of course, thanks for the tag :)

Just wanted to say congrats. I’m a regular reader and I appreciate your writing. You’ve inspired me to try and do some writing too.

Congrats PM! An award well deserved. I have fallen in love with your blog even since I stumbled across it a couple of months ago.

I was away for awhile and now that I am caught up – WOW. If I were to ever get caught in an exchange like that, I can only hope that I have an ounce of your presence and dignity, I would probably resort to name calling!

  14. Momish Says:

Congats! You are definitely a blogger that makes me think. A lot. Well deserved!

P.S. this is the first time ever I got a word verification that was actually a real word (suddenly, my world makes no sense anymore)

  15. PunditMom Says:

Thanks so much for all the kind words! It’s so nice to know there are real people out there! ;)

  16. JudesMommy Says:

Wowza! I’m away for work this week and I miss all the fun! My head is spinning from catching up here and over at Lawyer Mama’s digs on all this amazing blogging going on.

I’m speechless with awe, PM. All I can articulate right now is YOU’RE MY HERO! I bow to the Goddess that is PunditMom…

Oh, and as a mom who works hard for the BIG TELCO utilizing my education and intelligence every day, furthering feminism in society by continuing the fight to crash the glass ceiling once and for all…LH, bite me and get over yourself.

NOTHING is more important to me than my role as JudesMommy. There is no corporate meeting I attend or project I lead to completion that will do more to make the world a better place than my attempts at raising another human being who is full of compassion and understanding for his fellow human. Valuing diversity and furthering an environment of inclusion that promotes equality starts right here…not at the office.

I’ve been over here hunting around looking for your e-mail address and not finding it.

I so wanted to send you a note more than leave you a comment, but alas – I guess I will just have to leave it here and say that I am sorry for all the whirlwind of the last week. It must have been pretty hard. I would have had a complete anxiety attack through all that. You handled the whole situation with grace, but shouldn’t have had to face it at all.

Anyway, I wanted to tell you that I was thinking of you.

You do have a great thinking blog. It’s nice to go online and find out that there are people out there willing to use their brains for things other than celebrity spotting and sports watching…
